This week the BMS grade 8 students participated in a financial literacy/career education fair. This year’s CU 4 Reality fair was held on Wednesday, May 27th at NHTI in Concord. This field trip serves as the finale of the combined guidance and FCS classroom lessons. With their career worksheet tucked inside their sponsor-provided portfolio, including the essential calculator, 140 grade 8 students boarded four busses and off we went. It needs to be noted that the “dress for success” lesson was well heeded! The kids dressed as if they were going to a job interview—very impressive attire! It was overheard in the hallway as school began that “every day should be CU4Realtiy day” as the staff was wowed by the outfits worn by the kids. This did not go unnoticed by the many volunteers who run the fair. The Bow Memorial staff chaperoning the trip heard many compliments about our student’s positive attitudes, understanding of their assignment and their politeness as they interacted with the many volunteers at the stations visited. As a follow-up to the field trip, the students will be completing a post-field trip survey, which will be assigned by the grade 8 Social Studies teachers. Grade 8 parent/guardians will be made aware of this survey, as one question requires that the student share their experience with their family. As a follow up to this survey, we will share in next week’s e-notices some of the comments regarding the trip from our students as well as parent feedback. A HUGE thank you to our two sponsors – St. Mary’s Bank and New Hampshire Federal Credit Union!
